The house that now houses the KUNST KABINETT HESPERT was a primary school until the end of the 1960s. After that, it was temporarily used as a residential building and studio until the KUNST KABINETT HESPERT was finally built there in 1991. Since then, the building has been used as a municipal gallery for the municipality of Reichshof, which also owns it.

On June 5, 1984, the building was entered into the Reichshof municipality's list of monuments. The building itself was built around 1850. It stands on a quarry stone base, is slated, has two floors and a full basement. The attic is partially converted.
