One of the most important Renaissance palaces is located in Dresden's old town: the Dresden Residence Palace. As the seat of electors and kings, it has been the cultural center of the city since the 15th century. Almost completely destroyed in the bombing raids on Dresden in 1945, the Dresden Residence Palace has now been restored to its former glory. The Dresden State Art Collections are one of the largest art collections in Europe. In the Green Vault, the Royal Parade Rooms, the Renaissance Wing, the Turkish Chamber, and the Giant Hall of the Armory, guests discover evidence of a glorious era. The Coin Cabinet and the Print Cabinet can also be found behind the palace walls. From the 100-meter-high Hausmann Tower, guests can enjoy a unique panoramic view of Dresden.

Visible from afar, a modern dome designed by the Peter Kulka architectural firm spans the historically reconstructed small palace courtyard - a Renaissance courtyard from the 16th century with columned arcades and gables. The innovative roof creates a new space which, in its function as a central foyer during the day, also offers the opportunity for a variety of events in the evening.
