The two saints Joachima a Anny are the parents of the Mother of God Mary, i.e. grandfather and grandmother of Jesus Christ, although this is not attested in the biblical texts. However, they are mentioned in apocryphal writings (i.e. not included in the canon of the Bible), for example in the so-called "Protoevangelium of James". There is no historically confirmed knowledge about Anna's life, but there are numerous traditional stories, which are summarized, for example, in the medieval "Legenda Aurea" by the Dominican monk Jacobus de Voragine. In the church calendar, the memorial day of the holy couple - Joachima a Anny - is July 26th.
