Not far from the river in the middle of the Parthenaue stands the graceful baroque church of Plaußig. Originally built as a Romanesque structure, it was given its current appearance between 1726 and 1772, completed by the baptismal font from 1791. The path leads past two linden trees across the churchyard to the portal. The interior is characterized by the baroque pulpit altar and the surrounding gallery. The organ beneath a Romanesque arch is the work of Eduard Offenhauer. Located directly opposite the Plaußig rectory, the church is the center of the extensive large community of Plaußig-Hohenheida. It is therefore used almost daily by community groups.
