The Peicherturm is a massive round tower on the defensive wall of the former Innstadt fortifications, near the Severinstor on the Beiderwiesbach in the Innstadt in Passau. It was built in 1402/1403 and restored in 1983.

The Peichterturm was part of the Innstadt fortifications added between 1408 and 1410 and served as a battery tower. The neighboring Severinstor, which was previously also called "Peichtertor", played a less than glorious role in the defense of the city during the Napoleonic Wars: According to documents from the city archives, the Austrians entered here in 1809 when the gate was opened for the postilion from Schärding.

In 1955, Heinrich Moser bought the 23.95 meter high tower together with a neighboring privately owned house. At the time, the basement served as a storage room for his tenants; renovating the tower was out of the question, as Moser explained in a newspaper article in 1973: "Expanding the tower would be very expensive." His son Horst Moser thought differently when the apartment in his parents' house gradually became too small for a family with three children. Because even though the dilapidated tower, built in 1403, was in poor condition, he had a compelling argument: the short distance to the family nursery on the Inn.

For two years, starting in 1983, the couple Horst and Christa Moser renovated the tower with a lot of their own work and created 220 square meters of living space with underfloor heating, two bathrooms and a separate room for each of the three children. There was also enough space on the five floors of the tower for Horst Moser's love of railways: his model railway, which he built over the course of six years, is on its own mezzanine floor, and he subsequently added sound to Super 8 films with railways in the top of the tower. However, the situation is not good with regard to green space, as the tower only includes the access path and terrace, not the beautiful garden in the former moat. The tower was restored again between 2009 and 2011.

The name of the tower is usually attributed to the Roman fort Boiotro. In 2005, Heinz Kellermann, on the other hand, identified the Pawter Gate, mentioned in several documents from the 14th century, with the Innbruck Gate, which at that time controlled access to the Inn Bridge in the north of the Innstadt. Only after the construction of the West Gate (today's Severin Gate) between 1408 and 1411 did the name shift to this gate and in 1414 to its newly built gate tower. After its demolition in 1820, its name was finally transferred to the round tower to the south of it, which has since been called the Peichter Tower.
