The Rodigt Tower looks back on a long history, after the old iron tower could no longer be preserved and was demolished, the new Rodigt Tower will finally open in 2020. From the observation deck at a height of 24.30 meters you have a fantastic panoramic view.

It is astonishing how many people and companies are still contributing to the rebuilding of such a beautiful gem as the Rodigturm. Since the trees are also getting taller, the tower had to grow with them and is now significantly higher than the original. Nevertheless, you can no longer see Nossen Castle from above through the tall trees.

The Rodigtturm was a symbol of the city of Nossen and was first built in 1870 as a wooden tower. Due to weathering, however, it had to be demolished. As a result, a new iron tower was built in 1884, which attracted tourists, school classes and friends of the homeland for almost 100 years. In the 1970s, however, it was closed due to dilapidation and plans for a new building fell through after reunification. Despite numerous donations, the tower could not be preserved and was demolished in 2008. The new Rodigt tower is the third tower at this point. The tower is meant to symbolize a tree and is 29 meters high. The view from the tower offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape, such as the Radewitzerhöhe, the Steinberg or the Erzgebirge foothills. The tower is integrated into a larger network of hiking trails that were prepared and signposted as part of the project.

Rodig Tower in Nossen, observation tower.

Information:

The tower has been open to the public since April 25, 2020. Design: Tree with leaves (replicas of the walnut leaves from the Nossen town coat of arms). Location: Rodigt, 304 m above sea level. Height of the observation platform: 24.3 m. The current tower has had two predecessors.

The Rodigt Tower has existed since 1886 and has been open to visitors since 2020, having been rebuilt. It's modeled after a tree with leaves. From the top, you have a beautiful 360° view, and... it costs nothing, except perhaps a small donation for maintenance.
