Not far from the center of Čazma are the remains of a medieval fortress. It once housed the bishop's palace, as Čazma was the auxiliary seat of the Zagreb diocese from 1226. After the palace was destroyed, a wooden fort was built in its place, which stood until the 19th century. In the middle of the 20th century, a memorial ossuary was built on the plateau, which is still recognizable today by the mosaic of the great painter Edo Murtić.
