According to an inscription cartouche on the flat-roofed interior, the Holy Cross Chapel was built in 1704 by the Trier executioner Peter Raach in thanks for the healing he found here. The date 1815 in the round-arched pillar portal probably indicates a renovation or extension in which the baroque portal was reused.
On the grounds of the Cross Chapel there is an arboretum (a collection of various and rare tree species). An information board explains the arboretum in more detail.
