The cycle path leads directly past the hydroelectric power station. This is where the unbridled power of water is evident. You can at least take a look as you cycle past.

The Gartenau power station is a run-of-river power station on the Berchtesgadener Ache in Berchtesgaden, which has been operated by AUF Eberlein & Co GmbH since 2008. Completed in 1908 on behalf of the Royal Bavarian State Railways, this hydroelectric power station was used for the first time to generate traction current and was the oldest traction current hydroelectric power station of the German Reichsbahn until it was converted. Today the power station generates three-phase current with a total output of around 1.9 MW for the public grid and is part of the Gartenau industrial estate in the Berchtesgaden district of Unterau.
