Anyone who climbs up to this terroir finds themselves in the middle of Greek mythology. Visitors are greeted by the goddess Ariadne, who has made herself comfortable as a large bronze sculpture on a stone plinth. Another magical place for Franconian wine - terroir f - has been created on the Johannisberg in Thüngersheim. It is most likely unique in the world. Who knows the goddess Ariadne as the world's first wine queen? Everyone knows her for her famous thread that led Theseus out of the labyrinth. Who knows how the story continued when Theseus left her? She was found by Dionysus, the god of wine, who married her as a king's daughter and brought her back from the underworld as a goddess. Out of joy he threw her diadem into the sky, and as it flew the gemstones turned into stars, where we see the constellation "Corona Borealis" (Northern Crown).

But the story continues. Both Ariadne and Dionysus had a son, Oenopion - the first winemaker in Greek mythology...

All this and much more about the world of the gods, depicted in two bronze sculptures by the artist Andreas Krämer, is told in a beautiful and spiritual place in the Johannisberg in Thüngersheim.
