Heiligenkreuz is the oldest Cistercian monastery in the world without any interruptions from its foundation until today: since 1133 the monks have been united every day for seven times in the stables of the coronation of God. The choir begins its prayers at 5.15 a.m. and the day ends with the choir at 8.15 p.m. The holy silence is heard at night. Cistercian Abbey, founded in 1133. Heiligenkreuz is the oldest uninterrupted Cistercian monastery in the world from its foundation to the present day: since 1133 the monks have gathered seven times a day in the choir stalls to praise God. They begin with choral prayer at 5:15 a.m. and end the day with evening prayer at 8:15 p.m. A holy silence is observed at night.
