Yes the amount of limestone scree to be seen down the Dales adds to the ambience of this walk although the further North you get then the condition of the path would tempt me me to call it "Anklebreaking Alley". Every step has to be precise and walking poles I consider essential. You can not now walk the full length of Deep Dale until sometime in 2026 due to quarry workings that when complete should "enhance the visitors experience". What I found interesting was the water and gasses bubbling out of the ground at the Junction of Horseshoe & Back Dale. At first I thought the ripples on the water were due to water drops from a passing shower as there were dark clouds about. What looked like ripples due to rain were in fact being caused by gasses passing up through the limestone. I have never seen this in the White Peak. Of course Buxton is not to far away and Buxton Natural Spring Water is a business.
