Explanation IJzerenberg 2022: Following on from the Heavenly Gate from 2021, René Donders presents the Divina Comedia exhibition: the Helse Gate.

The concept is similar to that of the earlier Heavenly Gate; somewhere in the landscape there is a gate that provides a view of another world. In fact, it is up to the viewer to determine whether this is a vision of the future or a look into the past.

The Hellish Gate provides a glimpse of a world that is in rebellion, taking revenge on the abuse of the earth by us humans. Not that the earth will not survive, the earth has endured greater catastrophes, but if we, humans, want to be part of that, something will have to change.

Just like the Divina Comedia, these gates are like a warning, don't wait any longer, we are exhausting our beautiful earth, don't destroy this unique planet.

If this picture is too intense for you, then quickly walk to the Heavenly Gate, which at least gives you some hope, there is light on the horizon!
