This may be a super downhill for unladen mountain or gravel bikes, but very challenging ascent with laden touring bikes. The last 8km includes a lit of Hike a Bike. We would recommend that if you are planning on ascending from the SS2 to Radicofani that you use the S24 to stay on the asphalt roads.
The landscape is magnificent and worth every drop of sweat. I was therefore glad that I had not taken the asphalt road for the climb to Radicofani, especially as there was one car after the other on the road. On the gravel track there were only 2 cars the whole time. And a touring cyclist from France and numerous hikers.
