The slender tower of Kasnevitz's St. Jacob's Church, topped with a massive spire, greets us from afar. This tower is said to have had two predecessors.
After the church's choir and sacristy were built in the second half of the 14th century, and the nave was added shortly thereafter, a church tower must have been built in medieval times.
The chronicler mentions a tower that was supposedly built of brick and roofed with copper. It is said to have collapsed on the first Sunday of Advent in 1641.
"The undamaged bells were hung from it in an oak tree not far from the church..." A new bell tower was built in 1768.
The high pointed arch windows of the church's nave are very striking.
The interior of the church is plastered and was repainted in 1990/91.
The pulpit was originally located directly on the altar. In 1958, it was taken down and placed in its current location on the triumphal arch. Next to it is an hourglass, which is used to indicate the length of the sermon to the preacher. The names of preachers since the Reformation are listed on a plaque next to the pulpit.
