It is a fortified church building from the 15th or 16th century, but was already mentioned in 1397. The church was repaired in 1653 under Pastor Igantius Ludovicus, renovated in the 18th century and in 1880, and the staircase porch was added to the west in 1910. The short nave, which is the same width and has narrow slit windows on the north side, adjoins the low choir tower with half-timbered upper storey and steep hipped roof with dormers. The flat-roofed interior shows no separation between the tower room and the nave. The pulpit was installed around 1700. The organ dates from the first half of the 18th century, but was probably not added to the church until 1790. The bell was cast by Hans Bader in 1615. The church building, which is elevated above the old town center, is surrounded by one of the few churchyard walls that has been preserved intact. It opens to the east with a pretty covered wooden portal from around 1700, and to the south with a wrought iron gate from the 19th century. In the churchyard there are a few old gravestones and the war memorial, made in 1924 by J. Kraus from Usingen, and extended in 1962 by the sculptor Ludwig.
