        "The art installation "Monumento del Peregrinos" goes back to a suggestion by the pilgrim Ernesto Calvo, who is a member of the Friends of the Way of St. James in Navarre. (...) Seventeen life-size flat figures made of naturally rusted iron, twelve people and five animals, form one Pilgrimage with members from different epochs, social classes and age groups. Men, women and children are there. The figures were set up in 1996 as landmarks that can be seen from afar. These are works by Vicente Galbete Martinicorena, a sculptor from Pamplona. (... )
        After the installation was complete, the artist did not wish to inaugurate the art installation: Galbete wanted to express his respect for the centuries-long continuity of the procession of pilgrims. He understood the group as part of this pilgrimage, but not as something new."

          At Alto del Perdon, the route crosses the high ridge of the Sierra del Erreniega with sweeping views in all directions. This location is infamous with 40 wind turbines lining the ridge. A spectacular monument erected in 1996 entitled "Where of the wind crosses that of the stars" shows a row of rusty cast iron medieval pilgrims crossing the ridge.

            Here the way of the wind crosses the way of the stars! Here the cyclists can meet the foot pilgrims. For a picnic is better the nice rest area about 1km before.
            It is worthwhile even after the exhausting driveway still to drive this detour before rushing down the mountain again!

              It is a memorial, the work of the artist Peio Iraizoz, formed by a set of 20 stones that symbolize the recognition and reparation of the 92 people killed in the Sierra del Perdón during the years 1936 and 1937 by the repression unleashed after the military coup of July 1936. It is formed by a central stone, which remembers all the disappeared people, and nineteen others placed around in the form of an open spiral that represent each of the localities of which a neighbor was killed in that place. The memorial was inaugurated in November 2017, and a few months later suffered a vandalism attack.
