The main structures with the castle garden lake, canal, four large lawns surrounded by flower beds and potted plants, including flower mounds and Isopi vases, were largely preserved until the 1950s - after potatoes were also grown in the south garden in the meantime.

It was not until 1797 that the now very run-down complex was appreciated again under Duke Friedrich II (king from 1806). While retaining the avenues as structuring elements, a large oval basin with a canal leading to the castle was created in the south garden - probably through significant planning by Friedrich himself. Four large compartments were therefore divided up, each with an Isopi vase in the middle. The front and side gardens were also adapted to the taste of the time. The so-called East Garden was created on the site of a former quarry as an atmospheric addition in the landscape style typical of the time.
