The monument bears no resemblance to the figure of Saint. Franciszek. If it weren't for the inscription on the plinth, I wouldn't have guessed who or what it represents.
My sister-in-law - a painter, once asked why her paintings do not resemble reality, explained to me that the ideal is not a photographic representation of reality, but the artist's processing of it, adding something of his own.
If this is true, then the creator of the sculpture of St. Franciszka rose to the heights of this transformation and distorted the portrayed person to the highest, not to say heroic, degree.
Art critics will have their hands full proving what the artist had in mind, whether he depicted Saint himself. Francis or maybe the bird to which the Saint preached a sermon. I suspect that someone will earn a doctorate or even habilitation by analyzing this work.
