The heart of the city of Bilbao has always been the old town, better known as Las Siete Calles.

After the floods in 1983, the old town was rehabilitated and is now one of the most important commercial and leisure centres in Bilbao. The pedestrian streets alternate between classic shops and more innovative ones, as well as numerous bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the best of Basque gastronomy.

Thousands of visitors flock to the streets every year and any excuse is perfect to enjoy the gastronomic, commercial and cultural offer that the old town has to offer.

In its corners you will find the oldest churches and monuments in the city: the Santiago Cathedral, the Church of San Antón, the Archaeological Museum, the Basque Museum, the Bidebarrieta Municipal Library and Plaza Nueva, a place for leisure activities and the setting for numerous games and festivals such as the Sunday Market or the Santo Tomás Market.
