Around 1200 a Romanesque church was built on the same spot and placed under the protection of St. Vitus (Veit), whose name was transferred to the place. The tower of this building survives.
The nave was replaced at the end of the 17th century by a rectangular hall church with a Gothic chancel and representative facade. The portal front shows forms of the Roman baroque.
The rich baroque furnishings include the high altar with altarpiece of St. Vitus martyrdom, two side altars, pulpit, baptismal font and other figures of saints. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Vitus_%28Veitsh%C3%B6chheim%29?wprov=sfla1
