According to Thai cosmology, Mount Sumeru is seen as the world's pillar and the universe's center, floating above water and home to beings from deities to devils. The mountainside hosts humans, nagas, garudas, ogres, ogresses, and yogis, each distinguished by wisdom and morality. At its peak lies Tavatimsa heaven, where the god Indra reigns from the Phaichayon Maha Prasat palace. Indra, responsible for world serenity, intervenes in earthly affairs during catastrophes. Surrounding Sumeru is the ocean Nathi Si Thandorn, with Himavant Forest and Anodata Pond at its base. Four springs, represented by animal faces, are at the pond's cardinal points, with only the ox spring feeding water into the ocean.
