The monastery was founded in March 1290. Its founder was the Margrave of Brandenburg, Albrecht III. It was probably dissolved in 1539 by the Margrave of Brandenburg, John of Kostrzyn, after the introduction of the Reformation. Probably before 1896, the church, the eastern wing of the monastery and the farm building were demolished in unclear circumstances.
The western wing of the monastery has survived to this day. The building retains the vaults of the former refectory. Currently, the owner of the facility is the Agricultural Agency. Actions were taken to renovate the preserved wing of the monastery. Its adaptation into a cultural center on the Cistercian Trail is planned.
