Remembering the Jews who were tortured and murdered in the concentration camps.
Remembrance of the fate of the 90 concentration camp prisoners who were able to escape from transport trains in Soltau in April 1945.

In order to arrest these alleged “serious criminals” (Nazi language), the Hitler Youth leader called for a so-called “hunt” in which Wehrmacht soldiers and Soltau citizens took part.

The captured prisoners were either shot on site or taken to a collection point and usually executed on the same day.

Members of the Wehrmacht, as well as young people from the Hitler Youth and the Association of German Girls, took them to the sand pit on Lönsweg, where they were murdered and buried.
