Pioneer tower
Soldiers from the 1st Command of the Pioneer Battalion 29 from Hann. Münden built the first observation tower on the Mäuseberg. In 1937 the 12.50 m high wooden tower was inaugurated. The city of Waldkappel provided the wood. Having become dilapidated, it had to be blocked in 1955. In 1964 the old wooden tower was replaced by a 19 m high steel lattice construction. From the observation tower you have a wonderful all-round view of the Hohe Meißner, the Stölzinger Mountains and the Inselsberg in the Thuringian Forest. A head for heights is recommended!
