The Orlina is a river in the Alt Empordà, a tributary of the Llobregat d'Empordà on the left side and, therefore, of the Muga.
It has its headwaters in the Serra d'Albera, in the municipal terms of Espolla and Rabós.
During its upper course it receives water from the municipalities of Rabós and Espolla (of the latter, the stream of Sant Genís should be highlighted), to continue towards Peralada where it finally flows into the Llobregat d'Empordà, which in turn drains into the Muga.
It is a river that if the summer is not extreme, it can have water all year round.
The most interesting sections of this river are the ones between the municipalities of Rabós and Espolla, as it passes through places of great beauty and in a certain way, congested. The passage through the village of Rabós, which has taken advantage of the river to build the houses with pebbles and the numerous fountains that are in this municipality, is interesting because of the high and interesting stone bridge that crosses the river in this town; despite the height, sometimes the floods have taken away the railings.
In terms of biological diversity, it must be said that it is a river full of life:[ it is populated by the typical Catalan river species, barbels and trout, crayfish (currently dominated by the American crayfish, the native has almost disappeared ), eels, water snakes, salamanders, toads, frogs...
