The station Hochspeyer is located on the Ludwigsbahn between Kaiserslautern and Neustadt. Here the route branches off to the Alsenzbahn, which leads from Kaiserslautern via Hochspeyer, Winnweiler, Alsenz, Bad Münster am Stein to Bingen.
The station building was built like all other station buildings, which originated in the Palatinate around 1870, in the style of late Classicism. Not far from the station is a former sandstone outbuilding.

The town of Alt-Hochspeyer lies on the Palatinate Ludwig Railway, which ran from Ludwigshafen to Bexbach and had already been extended to Kaiserslautern by July 2, 1847. Only a freight yard was built in Hochspeyer. It wasn't until 1870, with the construction of the Alsenz Valley Railway, which ran from Hochspeyer to Bad Münster am Stein, that a new junction station, built in the late Classical style, was constructed in Hochspeyer. The line was opened on May 16, 1871.
