We are just below 900 m above sea level: the forest, the water (while it lasts...) and the stone dominate, the silence is magnificent. You need to travel a few kilometers (approximately 3.5) on boots or mountain bikes to reach Val di Canale starting from the town of La Montagna, partly on an easy dirt road then along a forest road that is at times quite steep and stony; it is not a too demanding route, certainly not much considering the beauty offered by the remains of Val di Canale! An excellent circular tour is the one that starts right from the mountain, goes up to Val di Canale, continues up to the La Spinella refuge
and then descends on an easy dirt road towards Germagnano; from here I suggest the path (indicated but not really "well marked") which takes you back to the start and offers the beautiful ford of the Condotto ditch (which then becomes the Afra torrent), right below La Montagna. Gastronomic (and refreshment) options include the Da Vasco trattoria, the Calisti restaurant and the Fattoria di Germagnano. And a small "packed" breakfast in Val di Canale, trust me, it really suits us 😅
