The footbridge on the Panoramaweg above the Salzach was named in memory of the late tour guide Ernst-Mittermeier-Steg. The former teacher Ernst Mittermeier was very close to home and it was a great need for him to pass on the special features of Burghausen to guests, and so he also led tours of the panorama trail. In 2016, for example, the observation platform, which Mittermeier was very pleased about, was renamed in his honor.

From this footbridge with its two coveted seats you have a great view of the old town, the castle, the Salzach gorge in Ach and Austria on the other side of the Salzach.

From the top of the jetty you have a fantastic view of Burghausen Castle and the old town. There are even two small chairs to enjoy the view.

At the "Ernst-Mittermeier-Steg" you have a box seat at the top of the
natural grandstand with a picturesque view of the 500-year-old old town.
You can now see the east side of the castle and have a magnificent view of the
Burghausen Salzach breakthrough with the Kreuzfelsen; the 70 m high steep bank
demonstrates the enormous erosion of the Salzach in just 15,000 years.
The Botanical Garden has been located directly at the viewing point since 2010.
