The Hariksee has been a popular destination for day trippers for many years and so there is a good tourist infrastructure here. Gastronomy, miniature golf course, rowing and pedal boat rentals, a people-cruising steamer called Patschel and good connections to the local hiking trail network.

If you prefer to walk, we recommend the 3.5-kilometer circular route A 5. It connects the two destinations and offers beautiful views of the lake from all sides. Lake Harik has its origins long before peat was mined, but the hard work of the peat cutters gave it its current shape and size.

The castle was built at the end of the 19th century for Bartholomäus Rosbach, the former owner of Haus Clee in Waldniel, as a small villa for hunting pleasure, parties and love affairs. In 1920 the tourist development of Lake Harik began. A special feature of the Hariksee are the holiday church services in the open air, which have been held since 1965 from March to September on Saturdays at 5 p.m. in the forest behind the weekend houses. ..."
