The historic chapel, surrounded by a fieldstone wall, is a remarkable building and is centrally located in the town.
According to the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230, the village of Tramm belonged ecclesiastically to Siebeneichen, but was subject to the manorial estate of the Ritzerau estate. When Ritzerau was sold to the city of Lübeck in the mid-15th century, the patronage of the chapel also passed to the city council.
There probably already existed a chapel at this time, because in the Middle Ages the chapel had three altars, from which the figures now in the chancel originate.
