The banana cycle path in Dortmund, a railway cycle path, extends over a length of 3.6 kilometers from the center of Dortmund south into the Emschertal and thus connects the center with Lake Phoenix. This cycle path is a popular route for cyclists who want to explore the city away from traffic. The route was originally opened as a railway in the 1880s, but the final sections were closed to trains around a hundred years later. Since then it has been converted into a well-developed cycle path. There are plans to extend the banana cycle path to make its use even more attractive.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Banana Cycle Path not only offers a safe and scenic route through Dortmund, but also a connection to the city's important recreational and tourist attractions. Beautiful cycle path on an old railway line through DO-Körne. Now accessible without intersections from Defdahl to Günterstraße, just before the intersection with Weißenburger Straße - i.e. including the extension parallel to Günterstraße.

The Banana Cycle Path is great to ride on, thanks to its excellent asphalt surface.
The path has been extended into the city center.
However, two dangers lurk at either end!... at one end, lots of graffiti, and at the other, HALLE 77 with its vintage car museum.
