The Teuschnitz-Aue is the headwaters of the Teuschnitzbach. Numerous small water outlets make the area partially damp and swampy. Over the decades, a small-scale mosaic of poor meadow areas was created here, criss-crossed by rain and damp herb fringes. This variety of structures made an equally diverse range of plants and animals possible. Since the 1990s, nature conservation measures have ensured the development of the Teuschnitz-Aue into a nationally important area for many rare plants and animals.
