The ascending part was via a dirt path along the river. Fairly easy to access with good footwear. The altitude and climbing made me gasp for breath several times and short rest breaks were necessary for this 62 year old man in reasonable condition. The return journey is largely by road, descending nicely and enjoying hamlets and such. Just at the end point (lodging address Paititi Sonqo (recommended!!!)) we descended the path again.
