A church has stood on this site since the Saxon period, and this iteration is certainly the oldest in the town. If you've an eye for historic architecture, you can spy the late Saxon stonework, particularly in the north wall. Seek out its information board in the churchyard to read about its fascinating history and marvel at how much this building has witnessed.

This oldest church in Wallingford dates from Saxon times. The clues can be found in the structure of the herringbone pattern on the north wall. A beautiful little church with display and information boards for visitors.

St Leonards is the oldest church and is regarded as the oldest surviving place of worship in Wallingford.

There has been a church on the site since Saxon times, when it is believed to have been known as the church of the Holy Trinity the Lesser. The current building still features distinctive Saxon stone work in the herringbone style around the north wall. Estimates for the start of construction point as early as the 6th century.

Parliamentary forces used the church as a barracks during the Siege of Wallingford in 1656. Their occupation caused substantial damage to the building. Repair works where only completed in 1700 when it reopened.

John Henry Hakewill directed a reconstruction of the church in 1849, although the Church was rebuilt in the Gothic Revival style the restoration works preserved large sections of the original Saxon Building.

The church interior is noted for a series of 4 angel murals painted in 1889 by acclaimed artist George Dunlop Leslie who at the time lived on St Leonard's Lane.

The Church in recent times now forms part of the Parish of St Mary-le-More with services being held on Sundays.
