On this part of route 40, you travel in the middle of the pampas. Along the landowners' fences which demarcate the roads, flocks of vicuñas (here called Guanacos) are regularly observed. These elegant animals often cross roads. They are unfortunately the victims of barriers. Here and there we see the corpses of these poor animals, which, held by a leg at the top of the fences, were unable to free themselves and died on the spot.
