Snow in the middle of the desert? Nothing is impossible in the United Arab Emirates. Since 2005, winter sports enthusiasts can make the slopes unsafe in the 2.5-acre ski hall of Ski Dubai. It is located in the Mall of the Emirates and is open 365 days a year from 9am to 11pm. The temperature is constant at -4 degrees.
In the hall five slopes with different levels of difficulty await you. A descent is up to 400 meters long. A chairlift, a tow lift and several magic carpets bring the skiers and snowboarders back up. There is also a children's area, a snow park with jumps and rails, several toboggan runs, fun attractions such as the Flying Fox and a winter village. Another big highlight for many are the almost 30 penguins who live in the ski hall. Visitors can touch them or swim with them.
The necessary equipment for winter sports can be rented directly on site. 3500 skis, snowboards and 13,000 ski boots are available alongside lots of winter jackets, pants, caps and gloves. Ski instructors help the mostly Arab visitors with the first attempts on snow. You can stop and eat at the restaurant "St. Moritz", named after the famous Swiss ski resort. There are also several rooms at the adjacent Kempinski Hotel offering a direct view of the slopes.
