Owens Peak is the highest peak in the southern area of Sierra Nevada, delivering unique panoramic views of the Sierra. Be aware that getting there is a challenge; the hike to the peak goes through a creek bed, and in the last 2 miles there is 2000 ft of elevation gain, passing by some rock boulders involving class 3 climbing. This is a tough hike that only should be attempted by experienced hikers. It’s recommended to use poles and hiking boots.
The access to the trailhead goes through a dirt road that is better accessed with high clearance vehicles. Have your map downloaded and make sure to follow the navigation.
