The poem “weg is de weg naar toen…” was written by the Dutch poet Hans van de Waarsenburg. He was born on 26 April 1943 in Helmond and died on 15 September 2015 in Maastricht. Van de Waarsenburg was a prominent figure in Dutch poetry and received the prestigious Jan Campert Prize in 1973 for his collection “De vergrijzing”. He was also the founder of the Stichting Poëziecentrum Nederland and played an important role in the literary community of Maastricht. His work is characterized by a profound exploration of human emotions and experiences, often interwoven with the Limburg landscape and culture.

This poem is located in the middle of a land consolidation in Jesseren (the nearby nature reserve Waerdeveld was bought by the province during the land consolidation).
