The history of today's LudwigPark is a true Wilhelminian story. It began at the beginning of the 20th century. On April 24, 1902, the Berlin City Council decided to build the catering facility for hospitalized people as the third Buch facility on the slope of the Stener Berg. This building later became known as the Buch-Ost Hospital or the Old People's Home.
The start of construction of today's LudwigPark is recorded as July 14, 1905. The official inauguration took place on June 19, 1909 in the presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Prof. Robert Koch. The institution consisted of four groups of buildings, the houses arranged around four garden courtyards. The houses were built in the country house style with mansards and hipped roofs. The Art Nouveau style was more evident in the entire building ensemble here than in other institutional buildings. The entire complex comprised 21 buildings, all of which have survived to this day. The park has an area of approximately 32,000 square meters.
Purchased by a private investor in 2008 and given new life, the listed residential complex in the countryside was extensively renovated, restored and successfully completed in June 2010 as the "LudwigPark Wohnen" project.
