The Siwalima Museum opened in March 1977. The name Siwalima is a combination of the two words Siwa (nine) and Lima (five) and refers to nine historical kingdoms in southern Maluku and five in the north.
Traditional Indonesian clothing and items from the Maluku culture can be seen in the exhibition rooms. There is also a room where whale skeletons are exhibited.
