          The Zehnerturm is located at Oberwesel train station. In the Middle Ages, this tower was the southern gate of the city and also a customs station. The “tithe” was collected there. An information center for the city of Oberwesel was set up in the walk-in tower.

              Southern city gate of Oberwesel.
              The Zehnerturm, which is also known as the Donkey Tower or Roman Tower, is the only witness to the existence of the city fortifications on the Rhine side of Kirchhausen's construction phase (after 1350). The Zehnerturm was built as part of the fourth and final construction phase of the city wall around 1450 on the eastern corner of the former city wall. The Zehnerturm is the youngest tower in the city fortifications.

              Due to the large gate passage, the ten tower is basically a transverse, rectangular, massive gate tower that has two openings in the middle of the top of the vault. The Zehner Gate connected to the Zehnerturm to the west and, as part of the European highway, formed the southern passage into the city.
              The gate tower was once used as a customs station. From his position, two transport routes could be controlled. The waterway of the Rhine and the land route that runs along the Rhine and is part of the European highway system can be named here.
