The Santa Caterina pond appears as a large naturalistic oasis of approximately 700 hectares overlooking the Gulf of Palmas, hosting a precious flora and fauna ecosystem. Adjacent to the isthmus that connects Sant'Antioco to the mainland, this lagoon is separated from the sea by a strip of sand. Over the millennia, the emergence of this sandy cord has delineated the boundaries of the lagoon area, fed by two waterways, the Palmas river and the Sassu river.
Pink flamingos in flight will welcome you, adorning the spring landscape with yellow fields of gorse. At sunset, the colors of the lagoon offer even more intense emotions, creating scenarios to be immortalized in evocative photographs.
