The town hall, a simple half-timbered building from 1695 - 1699, was ceremoniously inaugurated on July 11, 1699 after several years of construction. After the destruction by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War, the new building became necessary. The town hall is now home to the administrative headquarters of the city of Gräfenhainichen. In front of the town hall, on the market square, the “Fountain of the Elements”, which was newly installed in 1996, was inaugurated. The figures in the water feature represent the elemental forces of fire, water and wind.
