The historic well from the 19th century located in the center of Kazimierz market is one of its most important and recognizable symbols. Initially, it served as a street source, at the end of the 19th century it was equipped with a hand pump. Its current appearance is the result of work from 1913 under the supervision of architect Jan Koszczyc-Witkiewicz (wooden casing and roof).
The water from the well is drinkable, and legend has it that whoever drinks from it will constantly return to Kazimierz.
