With this monument, the compatriots of the Danube Swabians, Sudeten Germans, Transylvanian Saxons as well as the Buchenland and Carpathian Germans want to remember the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people who died while fleeing, expelling, deporting and in extermination camps, the arduous new beginning in Upper Austria and the Probation after the war and at the same time express thanks to the Upper Austrian population for their understanding and support.

The monument consists of three polygonal granite steles placed one inside the other with a base area of 40 x 40 cm and different heights (160 cm, 180 cm and 200 cm). It contains succinctly worded texts on 5 writing surfaces that express the fate of the displaced people in the past (panels II and III), their preservation of values in the present (panel IV) and their vision for the future (panel V).
