The fictional stories about the tragic hero Don Quixote and his loyal squire Sancho Panza, who have to endure numerous strange adventures, are Spanish world literature in the best sense of the word. So it should not surprise us that here in Tembleque - which belongs to his homeland 'La Mancha' - we find a tribute to the writer & poet (and "literary father" - among others - of the two protagonists of his main work) MIGUEL DE CERVANTES in the form of this monument. Don Quixote, however, seems a little lonely as he stands here without his squire and his mount...
