Good starting point for a mountain tour of the Pico do Fogo but also for other hikes. The complex itself has everything you need up here, after all the residents had to rebuild everything from the ashes. Don't expect a luxury resort. But you will meet friendly people and mountain guides who can tell you about the interesting history of the place and the island.

Super accommodation in the Chã das Caldeiras. From here you can do wonderful tours on and in the Caldeira. Tour guides for the ascent of Pico de Fogo are arranged.
Reopened in October 2015
Before the volcanic eruption in November 2014, the extremely comfortable accommodation in the Chã das Caldeiras was at 1700 m altitude .. 1100 m below the summit as a reference.
Spacious guest rooms with their own shower / WC with running hot and cold water and, depending on your desire, shady or sunny seating create a pleasant environment.
