The Chandelier Tree is a 300-foot-tall coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in Leggett, Mendocino County, California. “Chandelier” means chandelier. The tunnel, which was carved into the tree trunk in 1930 and is almost 2 meters wide and almost 3 meters high, allows passage with a car and is a tourist attraction.
A dead trunk of a giant sequoia tree (Sequoiadendron giganteum), which has a similar tunnel hole for cars to pass through, lies in Sequoia National Park.
