The old, dilapidated Wittenburg train station looks a bit spooky and would make a good backdrop for a horror film.
It was built in 1894 and is a listed building.
It is located on the Hagenow Land–Bad Oldesloe railway line; passenger traffic has not taken place since 2000.
The one- and two-storey brick building with a two-storey central section and two wings was built in 1894 in the turn-of-the-century style.
The reception building was used by various service providers after 2000;
it is empty today.
The station was an important transport destination for the construction of the A24 motorway in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The Hagenow Land–Bad Oldesloe railway line (also known as the Kaiserstrecke) connected the towns of Hagenow, Wittenburg, Ratzeburg and Bad Oldesloe. At the request of Kaiser Wilhelm II, a new route was designed as the most direct connection from Berlin to Kiel, bypassing Hamburg.

In 2000, the now sparse local passenger transport was discontinued and in 2004 the station and the route were sold to the Valluhn/Gallin Transport Industrial Area Planning Association.
